Motorcycle engine hours, recorded with your servicing
Engine hours describe engine running time. Record the readings you know and connect them to completed work, so you can check the meter reading at the previous service.
Download rideXThe meter measures; the app records
Copy the current engine-hour reading from your motorcycle into rideX. The phone is not an automatic engine-hour meter and does not independently read the motorcycle's counter.
Do not convert hours into kilometres
There is no fixed conversion between running time and distance. Idling, riding on a track and travelling on a road give different relationships. Keep both readings separately when available.
Find the last completed service
A useful entry includes the date, known reading, work, parts and cost. Compare the current reading with the confirmed service entry and use the interval specified for your model and conditions.
When a meter has been replaced
Note that a replacement or unknown history affects how readings can be interpreted. Do not reconstruct a previous total using guesses. User-entered records cannot independently certify a motorcycle's running time.
Questions and answers
Does rideX automatically measure engine hours?
No. You enter readings from the motorcycle. Keep them up to date after riding and servicing.
What if I only know the distance?
Start with the reading you know. Do not replace a missing engine-hour reading with zero.
